The Water Wizards 8 year old teams took....

The Water Wizards 8 year old teams took home first place in the Nutmeg League championship meet held on Sunday February 10th.   The boys team won first place against all of the other teams of  boys and when the splashing stopped and all of the points were totalled, Weston won the combined championship as well with 478 total points.   The Shelton Monroe Swim team was only 31 points behind Weston with 447 points overall.   In addition teams from Amity Regional Aquatic (250 points),   Sharks Swim team of Stamford (212), Branford Rec Stingrays (136), Trumbull Pisces (134) and the Wildcat swim club competed against the Wizards in the season ending championship meet for all of the teams swimmers 8 years old and younger.
     Swimming for the Wizards, Samantha McStocker, 8, took home two third place trophies.   In the 25 yard freestyle her time was16.79 and in the 25 yard backstroke she finished in 21.82 seconds.   Carolyn  Morikawa,8, also won two trophies - first place in the 25 yard breaststroke (20.16) and second place in the 100 yard individual medley (1:33.78).   Allison Pocsik, 8, finished with a fourth place trophy in the 25 yard butterfly with her time of 21.78.  
     The girls did equally well in the relays.   In the  100 yard freestyle relay Weston won third place touching out the Sharks. Weston was 1:14.32.   The Sharks were 1:14.99.    In the 100 yard medley relay Weston secured second place once again touching out the Sharks.   Weston was 1:22.47.   The Sharks were 1:23.04.     Swimming on both of the Wizard relay teams were Morikawa, Olivia Ferdinand, Pocsik and McStocker. 
      The Water Wizard boys dominated all of their events by winning nearly every one.   The boys led off the meet with a first and third place in the 25 yard freestyle.   Griffin Levi, 7, was first with 17.91 while Mateusz Babinski, 7 finished third in 18.93 seconds.   Sean-Paul Stolarski, 8, swam his way to a first place trophy with his winning time of 33.44 seconds in the 50 yard freestyle.   The 25 yard backstroke race could not have been closer with  Mitchell Levi, 7 in  first place (21.53), and Babinski right behind him in second (21.59), a difference of .06 seconds.    Jack Goldberg, 8, took home the sixth place trophy in the event (25.55).   In the 25 yard breaststroke, it was Kenneth Gosnell, 8, in second (22.66), Charlie Palsho, 7, in third (23.09), Connor Morikawa,6, in fourth (24.97) and Peter Achar, 8, in fifth (27.18).   The 25 yard butterfly ended with Stolarski winning his second trophy with his first place finish (18.19).   Mitchell Levi was second (20.88) and John Smith, 6, was fifth with 36.78 seconds.   In the 100 yard individual medley Griffin Levi captured fourth place (1:48.10). 
     To end the meet the Wizard boys won first place in both of the relays.   What a finale!   The 100 yard freestyle time was 1:11.75 with Weston swimmers Babinski, Griffin Levi, Mitchell Levi and Stolarski.   In the 100 yard medley the swimmers were Babinski, Palsho, Mitchel Levi & once again Stolarski anchoring the squad (1:21.69).
