Regionals Wrap Up & Championship Qualifiers

As the Long Course season concludes, Weston Swimming has many swimmers who were able to achieve success.  In fact, recently at the 12 and under Regional Championships, which were held at UCONN on July 16th-18th, numerous athletes displayed the effects of their hard work throughout the season.  Charlotte Proceller came in second place in the 50 meter freestyle with a time of 35.60.  She also placed third in the 100 meter freestyle with a time of 1:22.08.  In the 50 meter backstroke, a time of 43.47 earned her second place.  Daisy Peterson swam her way to sixth place in the 100 meter breaststroke, and it only took her 1:52.99!  Charlotte Proceller was able to take third place again but this time in the 100 meter butterfly, and her time was 1:51.12.  Fifth place in the 12 and under 100 meter butterfly went to Patty Kohn with a time of 1:26.60.  The Weston Swimming Girls 12 & Under A relay, consisting of Catherine Levi, Patty Kohn, Isabelle Proctor, and Victoria Gutowski, came in 6th place in the 200 meter medley, their time was 2:40.65.

            For the boys, Brandon Berger earned 4th place in the 50 meter freestyle, and 4th place again in the 100 meter breaststroke, with times of 37.47 and 1:54.94, respectively.  Sixth place in the 200 meter freestyle went to Griffin Levi, who swam this event in 3:03.39.  Griffin’s success continued in the 100 meter breaststroke, where a time of 1:56.20 earned him sixth place.  Austin Twiss swam his way to sixth place in the 50 meter backstroke, his time was 45.23.  Josh Franco came in fifth place in the 100 meter backstroke, and third in the 50 meter butterfly.  Josh’s hard earned times were 1:39:33 and 45.75.  A 45.03 earned Mitchell Levi second place in the 50 meter butterfly.  He also placed first in the 100 meter butterfly by swimming a 1.43.85.  Both Boys 10 & Under relays placed in the 200 meter freestyle relay.  The A relay managed to take home first, with 2:29.11.  The members of this relay were Griffin Levi, Josh Franco, Brandon Berger, and Mitchell Levi.  This relay also won first place in the 200 meter medley with a time of 3:00.27.  The B relay, with Austin Twiss, Oscar Peterson, Gilbert Tsui, and Robert Constantine, earned third place with a time of 2:53.21.  First place in the 50 meter freestyle was well earned by Garrick Tsui with a 31.95.
